Your documents stay on your device
PDF Lane reads the files you choose in your browser and processes them there. The application does not upload your documents, filenames, page contents or exported results to our servers. It has no upload endpoint, account system, analytics, advertisements or third-party runtime requests.
What the website requests
Your browser downloads the website code and its PDF engines, workers, fonts and decoders from the same website origin. Some assets load only when needed. These requests do not contain your PDF data. Cloudflare, as the hosting provider, may process ordinary connection information such as IP addresses, requested asset paths and security logs according to its own policies. Local processing does not make browsing anonymous.
Temporary memory and downloads
Selected files, previews and edits are held in the current tab's memory. The app does not save document data to cookies, local storage, IndexedDB or a service worker cache. Clear workspace removes the app's references to those files and terminates its processing worker. Closing the tab also ends the workspace. JavaScript cannot promise forensic erasure of RAM, operating-system swap or browser-managed data.
Exported files are saved by your browser to your chosen download location. You control those copies. The browser may cache the application's public assets according to its own settings.
One saved preference
Only your light/dark theme preference is saved in local storage, under pdf-lane-theme. It stays in your browser and is not transmitted. You can remove it through your browser's site settings.
Limits of the privacy claim
The local-only claim applies to this application's own behavior. Browser extensions, a compromised device, modified hosting code or third-party software can have access beyond this application. Use a trusted browser and device for sensitive files.
Third-party software
PDF parsing and rendering use self-hosted PDF-LIB and Mozilla PDF.js. ZIP exports use self-hosted JSZip. Their licenses are included with this website. No scripts or fonts load from a third-party CDN.
